As a woman that is going for wls very soon, i have no sympathy for her. I understand some of her feelings but when she said that she didnt want anyone going out doing it because she did it, I thougth she must be out of her MIND!!!! First off, she is not the first celebrity to get wls. Secondly, I am pretty sure that she didnt have to jump the hoops that alot of us do to get the surgery. I think that she honestly thought that the public was stupid and really thought that she ate a few carrot sticks and did pilates and lost the weight.

I personally don't think she was looking for sympathy and I also do not think she was required to give any explanation as to how she lost the weight.

but if you are out in the public eye, and you are implying that u did some pilates and ate lite and started melting in front of our eyes, i count that as deception. dont say anything at all if you dont want to but dont make it to look like something else.

I disagree.  All the time people on these forums say how they intend to gloss over how they lost the weight when asked.  I think she has the same rights to do the same thing.

wow! i never thought of it like that. I guess because I never intended to lie about how i am going to lose the weight. i guess i understand why she said she was ashamed because she couldnt control the weight.

As far as I'm concerned, there is a big difference between all the "people on these forums" not disclosing the facts of how they lost the weight and what Star Jones did.  She outright lied to people so that she could increase sales and hawk her book by telling everyone:  BUY MY BOOK AND I'LL TELL YOU EXACTLY HOW I LOST THE WEIGHT.  Her book never did tell the truth...   I have no problem with people wanting to keep their private lives private.  But when you perpetrate the deception on the public in the manner that Ms Jones did ---- then the ire and scorn of the public IS every bit deserved. I would  have to agree and say that I don't have any sympathy for her either.  I do like her and I did watch her new show on CourtTV today, it was alright.  I do like her, generally... I just don't agree with what she did with the lying about having WLS.   She is very conceeded if she thinks JUST because she had WLS, they are going to go out and do it.  Pleeeeeeze.  People are smarter than that.  She gives herself way too much credit there.

IMHO-She has a new show coming out on Court TV, she wanted publicity.

I completely agree, if you want it a secret... than keep it a secret, but don't lie and say you did it another way, and then change your tune when you have a new show or a new book your trying to promote and announce it then.  No sympathy here. Doris

I totally agree...she outright lied to people...not to get political but when President Clinton said he did not have sex with Monica the world went into  a total panic over it...and he was slammed left and right and again that was his personal life but again because he is in the public eye it became the worlds business...granted I know she is far from being the President but his actions had NOTHING to do with whats going on in the world but yet the world was so involved...I just feel she was deceptive and treated the amercian public like a bunch of fools.
