Hello, This is to anyone that had open RNY,  My incision keeps being infected at the top, my bra keeps rubbing on it, so I realize everytime I don't wear my bra it seems to be a little better.  I am putting neosporin on twice a day and and I am not going to where a bra hoping that maybe it will finally heal,  My Surgeon is the one *****commended the neosporin and also these big horse pills lol,  An Antibiotic that I should take twice a day but I hate to swallow pills and they are so big.  Does anyone know if I just continue the  neosporin and no bra, will it finally heal itself.  I am tired of wearing this big black sweat jacket over my clothes so know one can tell that am not wearing a bra.  Please respond. Melissa

I had open RNY, but didn't have a problem with my incision.  I found though that the bra felt way too tight around my rib cage and put pressure on my sternum and incision.  I went without a bra for a while because it felt better doing so.  If you think the bra is irritating your incision and it feels better for you without the bra, go without it for a while.  I don't know if it'll really make it heal faster.  But it is possible that if you aren't constantly irritating the incision it'll heal better.  I also bought a "lounging bra" which was very soft and stretchy, not a lot of support, just a little bit of confinement.

Melissa, I had open RNY.  My regular bra didn't really bother me but I found wearing a sports bra was a little better.  I got mine at Walmart. :)

I got it at kmart.  It didn't say lounging bra, it was just very soft and stretchy.  Little to no support.

I tucked a soft, cloth diaper between my bra and my skin. I remember it relieved some of the pressure and rubbing.  A hand towel would probably give the same effect.  Maybe you can try a camisole with a built in shelf bra? A little support, but might feel betterthan a bra.  good luck.
