Hi all...living in South Jersey...the surgeon I'm hoping to use is up in N. Jersey so all of his regular referral places are a bit of a drive for me...hoping to find someone more local...and hopefully that insurance will cover. (?) I need a nutritionist, a physcologist, a gastroenterologist, a place to get a venous doppler test...and a support group... I'm located in Tabernacle (near Medford...not far from Cherry Hill)... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Call oxford, they were very helpful when I was looking for a surgeon. I am more central NJ and my surgeon is in north NJ, but they offered all of the services that I required. As far as the support group, go to the support group forum and see if they have any suggestions. Best of luck to you!

Thanks Marla...I can go to Oxford's website and find a listing of approved doctors...the problem is that I don't know who is familiar w/ bariatric patients, so that means I have to call each one and ask (I HATE calling doctors!)...last time I tried to get help from Oxfords phone line they didn't know any more than what the website said...did you have more specific help from them?   So...that's why I came here...I thought someone might be able to recommend someone they've seen...hopefully I'll luck out and someone will have a suggestion for me! Thanks for responding...I will call Oxford if I don't have any luck here...

I actually must have gotten a great rep then, because she was really helpful. I got a referral for a specifically bariatric surgeon, and they also told me what they would cover and so on. sorry that I could not be more help. Good Luck!

That makes sense...I could see that for a surgeon they would know what kind of surgery they specialize in...but for a nutritionist/dietitian or a psychologist they don't go into that kind of detail because most of those people deal with a multitude of issues (not just bariatric).  I could find the bariatric surgeon suggestion from their website...I'm going to take your advice and give them a call just in case...thanks!

Of course, Roberta.  He is the best.  I attended a intensive weight loss group therapy in Haddonfield and he made a guest appearance.  He totally blew the group away.  I think he is in the process of getting married.  Your daughter didn't get lucky with that one.

I am so glad you are doing so well.

There is a Real good Surgeon that i am using named DR. David Greenbaum he is in Willingboro  NJ his phone # is 609-877-1737and most of the people he refer you to for your evaluations is not far from you. They have a meeting every Month on a Monday the next one is 9/10/07 at 6:00pm at the Cafeteria of the Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington NJ. I live 1HR away from him but feel real good about him doing the surgery and had a lot of people say nothing but good thing about him. Hope that i was of some help.  Eugene
