Any idea how long Horizon BC/BS of NJ takes?

All of my information was submitted on July 18th. I called on Monday July 23rd and they said that they have received the paperwork but it is still pending. I am really getting nervous. I will call again on Thursday. Wish me luck Val

Barix is known to keep you hanging for months. Call BCBS yourself to see if they have even contacted them. It usually takes one call. BCBS does not require any supervised diet programs or anything out of the ordinary. When you are on the phone with them, ask about the copay, as I said, I didn't pay one but I know the BC charges something outrageous. If you get approved and they ask for an additional fee, you have every right to leave there and BCBS will transfer your records to another surgeon. Good luck.

I am going to Dr. Patel of Linwood so I don't think I will have a problem as far as fees. I am just waiting for approval which feels like forever. Val

i don't know if its because my insurance is a government branch of bc/bs but i my paparwork was submitted tuesday morning and my surgeon had the approval letter first thing wednesday morning, but when i called them tuesday (to make sure they get the info) they told me it could take up to 2 weeks. it seems all round theyre pretty quick

Thanks for the info.I'm still waiting for Barix Clinic to submit.I finally got in touch with my contact person,only to find out  the oh yea she did have the final missing piece-my psych eval that she must have had for about 5 days.She faxed it to their insurance dept( I did call and check after like 10 minutes).Now they have all they asked me for .Now I pray they are on the ball and submit it asap so I can get going with this.

 Im approved!!!!!!!! I called Horizon today and they said the approval went through on Monday. So everything is a go for Aug. 13th!

I am saying a prayer for you. I know what it is like to wait and it isn't fun. Dont be afraid to call Horizon. If I hadnt called who knows when the surgeons office would have called me. Horizon said I was approved on Monday and I called them on Thursday. When were they going to tell me?
