Hi, if you are reading this, I desparately need your help!!! My brother's girlfriend who is 27 had a Gastric Bypass in April. When she was home,  she was fine for a few days and then started getting severe abdominal pain and nausea. She ended up in the hospital for a month with no one knowing what to do with her. She then found out that whatever connects the esophagus to the stomach was 10cm smaller than it should've been. That was corrected. She also had her gall bladder removed in case it was that. Then she had a kink in her intestines. She has not been able to eat or drink or keep anything down in well over a month now!!! She ended up back in the hospital yesterday with the severe abdominal pain again. The doctors have done upper and lower gis and found nothing. They say it's a "mystery" to them. The next step is that they want to send her home with a TPN (food tube) which is beyond scary because she can get a blood infection from it which can cause death!  Please, I beg you, if you have any information on what this could be...any abdominal pains...what they were, etc. or know of any specialists who we can contact, please send information my way. I urge you to please email me at [email protected] or talk on here, but I am new to this and not sure if I'll get the messages.  PLEASE...we're getting desparate now!!! Thank you! God Bless!

I am so sorry that your friend is going through this.  I dont know anything about this, but I would like you to know that I pray God heals her body from head to toe.  I ask God right now to intervene on her behalf.   I will be praying for your friend.  Stay encouraged! Grace & Peace Treena

Treena,  Thank you SO much!!! I guess that's all we have to go on right now...a prayer! I'm trying to leave this in God's hands. It's so scary. I know he is there though. I hope he can intervene and heal her.  THANK YOU for praying for her!!! It means a lot.  Heather

I wish I could say something to help.... but medically I cannot.... But I don't need to tell you something went wrong with her surgery... I don't mean to sound superficial but I can only imagine that her medical bills are going sky high... First off is her recovery I hope it all works out... second... I would consider looking into the doctors that did her surgery and what there history is...  I hate to say this... and god forgive me..... but when she is all better I would seek legal on this.... I hope all works out... wish I had more encouraging information.... good luck

Perhaps there was some underlying problem that was exacerbated by her WLS. As far as I know there is no WLS procedure that involves changes to the esophagus; the stomach is stapled below the area where the esophagus comes into the stomach. Ten cms is almost 4 inches so I don't think they mean the diameter is 10 cms smaller then normal. Has her surgeon referred her to a Gastroenterologist,  the type of doctor that normally deals with problems from the esophagus down?  It is always very frightening when you cannot help someone that is important to you. It is also scary when doctors cannot make a diagnosis using all the tools modern medicine has afforded them. I hope one of the doctors is able to find something to help this young woman. The best of luck to all of you, Wilma
