Dr Alan H Brader
Hi Danielle,
I received my letter from Barix last week notifying me of Dr. Brader's termination. Dr. Boe will be my surgeon for follow-up appointments. I did some unofficial research on him and he appears to have quite the following (not dissimilar to Dr. Brader) from the Barix Clinic he'd been at before transferring to Pennsylvania. Seems he has a tremendous amount of experience as well.
I really liked Dr. Brader, but would be shocked if there wasn't some kind of clause in his contract that prohibits him from practicing bariatric surgery within a reasonable driving distance. I know he had previously done surgeries in North Carolina. I'm assuming wherever he hangs his his hat next will be quite far away.
My personal opinion on Barix at Langhorne - I think they have a quality program and I intend to remain there for my follow up appointments. I'm upset about my surgeon leaving, but assume it happened for valid reasons. Barix is a business - they will continue to make personnel decisions that (for whatever reasons) will "benefit" their corporate philosophy. As long as their decisions don't adversely affect me, I'll hang in there.
Best wishes to your mom and her decision to have surgery.
Hi Danielle~
On the PA Forum site I heard he may be going to Lancaster General, which I hear is pretty far from us in NJ. I hope he actually works in NJ instead of PA, if he does have a clause in his contract that he can't work close to Barix. My one year check up was suppose to be on the 17th but now has been changed to the 10th of August w/ Dr. Boe. Not sure if I will stay with Barix since it's about an hour and a half away from my home, but I will give it a try. But anyway, check out the Forum in PA someone is always updating on Brader. Hopefully he will show up soon somewhere :-)
