Help finding a plastic surgeon in NJ who will do tt and hernia repair
Hi all, I am over 2 years out from surgery and looking to find a plastic surgeon who will do both a very small hernia and a tt at the same time. I thought that maybe this would save me some money in the long run since he is in there doing the hernia also. Am I wrong about this? I went to a plastics doctor for a consult and my out of pocket for the tt would be $10,000. I just don't have that kind of money. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Judy
Hi Judy. You have to find out if your insurance company will cover a TT/hernia repair. For them to cover the TT portion you will have to document need - rashes, fungal infections, inability to perform activities of daily living, etc - for them to consider it to be medically necessary. $10,000 is a lot of money but not out of line for this type of procedure in the good old U.S.A. If you've had medical problems you have to document, document, document every call, every visit to the doctor and take pictures if you can. You'll need all of that to get approved.
I have a PS that I really liked in the Essex County area. I was approved for a panni. He did a hernia repair (common after WLS) and a TT for $3,000 out of pocket above what BC/BS was willing to pay.
I can give you his name if you'd like it. Good luck. Wilma
