Need some travel advice pls...

HI...

I am scheduled to have my DS surgery July 18th with Dr. Goodman in New Jersey.  My surgery will take place at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, NJ.  I need some help with finding a reasonably priced place to stay.  I need to plan a stay for about 10 days.  Does anyone know the area I am speaking of and any advice would be so appreciated.  I am kind of nervous now as my date is approaching and i really am the organized type and need to be organized for this trip.  I need to have everything in place before i leave for NJ.  I will be leaving for NJ on July 15th to see Dr. Goodman in his office on July 16, July 17th i am to see the anastesiologisy (sp?) and bloodwork, etc...then surgery on July 18.  I was told to plan a 4 day stay in the hospital and 4 days in the area after. 

Any help would be greatly apprecited!

I do know there are several Holliday Inns in that area. They run around $100.00 to 114.00 per night. I'm sure there are some cheaper but you'd have to investigate a little more. Their general number is 1-888-410-6667

Eve, Another avenue you could pursue is a website searching for motels/hotels in the area closest to the hospital, I've done that on several vacations taken with good results, you simply need the address and it will give the available places within that area, including prices and some offer discounts when you are planning a longer stay.  Good luck to you on your surgery!

I live in Teaneck, so I called the hospital (201) 833-3000 and the social service department (Dana) says there aren't many places they have agreements or discounts with.     The Glenpoint Marriot is a few blocks away from the hospital,  but pricey.  If you stay there, give them the discount code  (Fri-Sun) HYNX  $109 a night....  Mon-Thurs  $!89 a night.  HYNW  code. Becsuse of the multiple days, you might be able to get them to give you a break! There are some hotels in Ridgefield Park and Hackensack, the ajoining towns.  You could search on the Net and see what fits your budget.  I can let you know if the address is safe or seedy.  Good luck!     Mary  C

hi eve first of all best of luck with your upcoming surgery. i dont know the teaneck area, but i do know that somtimes u can get a good rate at an "extended" stay motel/hotel. one is called extended stay america, but there are others.  they are set up for travelers that need to be in an area for a longer period of time, usually have a kitchenette and allow pets, etc. perhaps you can look it up thru google or another search engine. good luck, jacki
