Anyone know these surgeons?

Hey gang, I have been referred to Dr Amrose in Bound Brook and Dr Morris Washington in Freehold by my insurance plan, Aetna. These are not bariatric surgeons, but rather laproscopic surgeons who can do WLS, but do not specilaize in that field. Does anyone know of these surgeons? Aetna says they are my only 2 choices in my area, (neither of them convenient to me) that are in-network, and I am so bummed. I would obviously much rather see a surgeon who specializes in WLS, and pay out of network fees. thanks for any input. Eileen

Hi, Eileen, I just had the gastric sleeve surgery on June 6th by Dr. Morris Washington and everything is perfect, and he is a bariatric surgeon and is great, they specialize in all wls the bypass, gastric sleeve and the lap band, you have to go to classes for 3 months and attend group stuff before they can schedule you a date I know they are real bizzy with wls i was told people are waiting till september that is how bizzy they are.  I was very impressed with everything his office has to offer, they have 3 doctors and they all work as a team.   If you have any questions, please feel free to call me (732)830-2243. Looking forward to hearing from you stephanie you should go to his seminar in E. Windsor, NJ

Hi Stephanie,

Congratulations on your surgery, and thank you for responding so quickly. That makes me feel a little better that you've used Dr Washington for you surgery and are happy with everything. I just had my heart set on Dr Mehta, I love his staff, and he is just 15 minutes from my house, and I can literally walk to his monthly seminar. see.......proximity means I will actually go each month, lol. Plus I just want to be closer in case of emergency. I see that Dr Washington is affiliated with 2 New York Hospitals, where does he do the surgery? The other thing is they can't even do my initial consult until Aug 3, and I am ready now!! I already have my 6 month physician assisted diet done so I was kind of hoping on getting the ball rolling sooner. Do you think I will still have to do another 3 months? Im not sure what the sleeve is, is it bypass?  I ask alot of questions, right? LOL Thanks for your number, I really appreciate your giving it to me, I have company coming tomorrow and staying through the weekend (groan), so maybe I will give you a call sometime next week. Thanks again, and best of luck to you,  Eileen

Eileen, You can check Karl Strom, MD he is my surgeon.  I have been very impressed so far and after meeting him and his staff at one of his seminar, I canceled a date I had with another surgeon to switch.  There will be a seminar tomorrow 6/20 at Mountian Side hospital. Here is his website http://www.advancedbariatric.com/ Good luck with finding a doctor. - Mike

hi Mike, thanks for responding so quickly. I am really looking for someone closer to home (New Brunswick area). Because of all the pre-op and post-op visits necessary i want to stay as local as possible.  Good luck with your surgery, and take care,  Eileen

Eileen, I used Dr. Chau at NJ Bariatrics in Monmouth Junction (really South Brunswick).  NJ Bariatrics is a Center of Excellence and uses the University Medical Center at Princeton for the surgery.  Dr. Chau is wonderful and the staff at NJ Bariatrics couldn't be better.  I had my surgery in late May and had my first fill today.  Everything is going well.  So, you might want to try them.  I don't have the phone number in front of me, but if you google "NJ Bariatrics" they will come up. Good luck. Margaret

Hi Eileen: I don't know either man but wanted to chime in about WLS specialist.  My surgeon is a  general surgeon who specializes in all gastro surgeries.  I chose him as I wanted to go to the hospital that he is associated with .  I couldn't be more pleased.  I had to have open due to a problem during surgery but I know that in the future if I develop a hernia or have any gastro needs I won't have to search for another doctor.   Good luck to you in you journey. Jeanne

Eileen, I use the "Center for Advanced Weight Loss" at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton.  The doc is Lou Fares, Jr. and he's fantastic.  He is in network for Aetna. I'm 17 months post-op RNY, down 150 #s, and feeling great. You might want to consider him as well. RobinNJ

Eileen, My surgeon Dr.

Ibrahim M. Ibrahim MD FACS

201-894-3000 out of Englewood, NJ takes almost all insurance. Even if he doesn't take your insurance he will negotiate a price with the insurance company and do the surgery. He has been doing them for close to ten years. I would highly recommend him. Just call Englewood Hospital and ask for Englewood Bariatric Center. Once you are connected ask for Darrian and he will get the ball rolling.  If you are interested PM me and I will answer any other questions you have.
