Today is My 4th WLS Surgiversary!
Wow - how time flies -- four years ago today, I went into surgery weighing 340 pounds, with diabetes, sleep apnea, high cholesterol, stress incontenance, bad knees and multiple other aches and pains caused by my obesity.
At the time, I was happily married for 27 years to my beloved DH, who had just been told he had less than three years to live, and I knew that this surgery was the only way to not only save my own life, but to gain my health so that I could care for him during the difficult time that we knew was coming for both of us. Eleven months later, I was 120 pounds lighter, and my poor beloved husband died, but not before we had talked extensively (and laughed always), and I had promised him that I would stay strong for myself and our kids, and would move forward with my own life.
Now - four years later, after losing 180 pounds total, and although I am battling a bounce-back of 25 pounds, life is good. I am remarried for almost one year (next week) to a great guy who understands me, nurtured me thru the recovery of various plastic surgeries in 2005, and knows and accepts that a part of me will always love and be thankful for my first husband. My kids are handling their own lives, and I am able to do so many new things that I had never thought I could do physically, like boating, jet-skiing, belly dancing, and hiking.
And so tonight - I am going to Tommy's Inn in Jackson, NJ with some friends and shake my tail feathers in celebration of LIFE -- and my own personal angel that I know is watching over me!
Anyone want to join me tonight, I would love to have you there!~
Hugs,
Nannette

congrats to you Nannette
you are an inspiration and i believe that everyone should read your profile
the most important thing you write (for me anyways) is that 'life is good'
isn't that what all this is about? to make life better? to not be sick and tired of being sick and tired anymore? to no longer be a slave to your dr office with this ailment or that ailment?
i would like to thank you for who you are :)
hugs back

Wow, congratulations Nannette on your 4 Year anniversary! I was so moved by your story, not only did you get through probably the most difficult time of your life, but managed to take control of your weight and emerge so victorious. I am truly inspired by you, and am so happy that you found another to share your life with, you must truly feel blessed.
I am just starting to take steps towards WLS and my new life. I have all the physical problems you described and can't wait to feel normal again.
Whatever that means, lol.
I hope you had a blast shaking your tail feathers .
