6 mopnth diet
hi there
i also had to do a 6 month diet -- no big deal -- go in once a month for 6 months -- document that you are trying to lose weight -- i gained weight -- but like others have said -- take this time to learn more about your surgeon and what choices you have in what type of surgery you want -- good luck to you!!

I have BCBS and had to do the 6 month diet also. I actually liked doing the 6 month diet. I only lost 4 pounds, but I learned SO much during the diet. The dietician I used worked with my doctors office, so she knew and developed the after surgery diet. She helped me get ready and start to change my eating habits before I went into surgery. She also helped me find food that had more nutritional value and would be good for me, but still taste good to the others in my family who haven't had surgery. The six months really did fly by. I didn't even realize when the six months was up, it seemed like it just started.
I'm sure everything will work out just fine and I look forward to seeing you on the loosers bench VERY shortly.

NJ BCBS has me totally confused. I called them last week and they said that they don't require the 6 months of monitored dieting by the PCP. Maybe it depends on what coverage you have under BCBS, mine is FEP. I'm forging ahead with all the other tests that have to be done in advance. And the countdown is on, 5 months to go!
