i had my surgery wed. morning, all went well and i'm home now.. but when i took a shower in the hosp. i noticed an incision spot just above my belly button, when i sit my belly kind of folds in half, not leaving any air to get to the incision- which wasn't covered or anything.. and my belly button get kind of icky sometimes, and i touched it today and it HURT.. and as i poked at it a bit more, it smelled kind of icky.. i can't really see the condition of the incision bc i can't bend and bc of the angle, but i really don't want it to get infected and it hurts quite a bit. any suggestions? i don't know if it was glued like the main incision (i had open btw) or what they did with it. the scab is kind of coming loose but i'm NOT about to mess with it. any help on how to keep it clean maybe, and when/if i should be worried about it ebing infected? i don't know. thanks a bunch

Nikki, I would put a call in to your Dr. I got an infection in my inscision and it was kind of oozzy, like a cream to cream brown color that came out, and pressure near it made it hurt, and it didn't smell very nice either. I am not a Dr, so I can't diagnose, but I would call you Dr and try and get an appointment to check it out. My Dr had me cover the insision with 4X4 gauze pads, with nothing on the pad (like no ointment or anything).  I know I've said this like 5 times, but try and get to the Dr, if it is infected and the infection gets to deep, it can cause a hernia.  I hope that it isn't infected and you clear up REALLY quickly. Best of luck, and keep me posted.

I agree, definatly sounds infected! I would call the doctor cause if it is infected you will need some yummy antibiotics. Feel better!
