Central Jersey Surgeons?

My general doctor sent me up to Hackensack Hospital for a seminar and all that jazz, but i've been having communication troubles getting information from their office as to what more I need to do. Seems to me that I qualify. I am 342lbs, 23 years old, with sleep apnea. I've gone for the psychiatric evaluation and a ton of bloodwork already. Yet the surgeon will still not meet with me for a face to face.  I've now decided to move on. I'd like to hear who everybody thinks is a decent surgeon in Central Jersey. I am living in East Brunswick and would prefer a doctor in Middlesex/Monmouth/Ocean counties, but will travel if needed.

I had my surgery with Dr. Frank Borao. He is out of Monmouth Medical Center, in Long Branch. He is AMAZING. I started last August, not knowing whether I wanted the lap-band or bypass. My first visit, I met with him and went over my quesitons and concerns and left feeling really good about getting the bypass. His program is very comprhensive. They have their nutrionist, psychologist, and program director that run monthly support group meetings. Their office manager is a DREAM, she took care of all my insurance issues and made me feel very comfortable that I didn't have to worry about approval. Dr. Borao himself took EXCELLENT care of me. I had my surgery on 3-6 and am down 60 pounds. I wouldn't have changed a thing about going with Dr. Borao. If you have ANY questions about Dr. Borao, or his program, please feel free to e-mail me off post. [email protected] Hope everything works out well, Jamie

My regular doctor also suggests Dr Ballantine, I am from East Brunswick as well, maybe we have the same physician? I am interested in Dr Mehta, als Dr. Bertha is highly recommended, and my friend just had a lapband by Dr Andreiu, but he is in Livingston. I like the idea of having the surgery in New Brunswick though, and all my follow up visits. I believe there is a seminar given at St Peters Hospital next Weds, I will find out for sure.

I recommend Dr. Earl Noyan.  He is in Hamilton and I thought that he was excellent. Spends as much time as you need and I felt that he really took the time to work with you, and that you were not just a number to him.
