They get over it eventually.  I moved out of the house at 25, and my mother was upset too, but it worked out for the best. I cant imagine that a mother would be that bad, but who knows, some are worse than others.  I wouldnt be too upset. And congrats on 60 lbs.  I am 2 weeks out and almost 40 is gone..

I am a mother of a 20 year old.  Let your mom know that of course you will still be family and that you will always love her and that she should be proud that she raised you to be an independent woman.  Your independence means she did her job right. As the saying goes, she gave you wings and now it is time for you to fly.

Hey, I was only 22 when I moved out. My mom was a wreck too. She and I spent a lot of time together before I actually moved. I also do a lot to make sure she knows that we are still a family. I call her almost daily and I try to make her feel needed. I will call up and ask for advice, even if I don't need it. I also try to visit once a week, always with laundry. I do the laundry myself, but I think she likes that I haven't fully been able to "break away" yet. I know how moms can be. They love us so much, but they know that we have to grow up.  I hope everything works out. Keep me posted. Jamie
