inurance approval

Just wondering approx how long after all is turned into insurance it takes to hear anything back. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield NJ if that helps.

I have Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield - all my information was turned in 8/11/06 and I got a call on 8/15/06 that I was approved.  I had my surgery on 8/30/06. Good luck! Jane 309/302/174/150 Pre-S/Surgery/Current/Goal

Jane~ It looks like we were in the hospital together last August in Hackensack.  I had my surgery the day after yours with Dr. Trivedi.  It has been the best 9 months of my life since that day, it looks like you are doing great too!  I am so happy for you!  We probably cruised the hallways together last summer.  Life is much better now!  This August will surely be a lot better than last August for us. Dan, I have B/C B/S and they submitted my paperwork on 5/17 at 3pm and my Dr. called me 5/18 in the afternoon with my approval # from my ins co. I was so shocked that they got it that fast especially since I have NO Co-Morbidities and I am only 100 lbs overweight (not that that is not alot, but you get what I mean)  Best of luck to you! Amy

Hello Dan~ I have the same insurance and it took 4 business days for me to get my approval.  It was super fast, and I was very happy about that.  I think you should hear soon, good luck with everything.

Hi I'm new at posting. But can someone tell me if BCBS NJ requires the 6 months medically supervised diet?

Julia, I don't know if they require it, but I didn't do the 6 months of diet before but my PCP wrote a letter to ins stating that I did. I do know that BC/BS is requiring a letter from your PCP. I hadn't seen my PCP in over a year & he wrote a great letter. Good Luck! Amy

Amy: Thank you for the response.  Not sure if it's my insurance company or my surgeon that's requiring the 6 months of medically supervised dieting.  I saw my PCP on Friday and he's very supportive of my having the surgery.   Hoping for a surgery date real soon! Julia

my  husband has bc/bs horizon of nj -- he had to do a 3 month diet --BUT his surgery was  a year ago -- it took him2 weeks for his approval  good luck to all roberta
