Approved, but surgery date changed

Last week, I started my pre-op liquid diet in order to prepare for surgery on May 29, but by the third day, I ended up in ER because my sodium was too low. (It turns out that it was not really the fault of the diet, but rather that the diet revealed something previously unknown about how my meds were affecting my blood chemistry.) I saw my bariatric team this morning for follow-up after my hospitalization and they said that my surgery had been improved by insurance (yay!! ) but that because of the blood chemistry issues, they didn't want to do the surgery next week. This I can completely understand and I think my family will be less stressed about the whole thing if I wait. The earliest they can reschedule me for is July 19. That seems like a long time away, but I'm focusing on the fact that I've been approved and that my surgical team is good enough to know when they should wait. I also think that putting it off that late might actually work out okay for my work schedule, which has been a big worry for me. I'm already finding that I'm actually kind of relieved I don't now have to get everything done before this Friday. Now I have a lot more time to meet deadlines!

Congrats on getting your approval and it seems as though things get done in the time frame they are meant to be done, so now you can exhale and not stress out and feel even more confident in your team. Laureen

everything happens for a reason :) take this time to get ready even more :) i was approved in June 2006, surgery scheduled for 10/9/06 then changed to 10/6/06, then had a medical issue and finally had surgery on 11/22/06  not a problem :) the day before thanksgiving was perfect -- everything happens for a reason  good luck roberta
