I just got my insurance approval and my file is being sent back to the surgen. Does anyone know how long that usually takes before they go to the next step? I am getting excited know. I am 36 @ 278, I am a mother of three, a wife ( my 4th child) 911 dispatcher and Vol. Fire Fighter. Now it is time for me to do something for myself!!!!

Congrats on the approval! As I'm only in the consult stage I have no information about how long from this point, but from all the reading I've done on here (been visiting here almost one and a half years, plus have family members who've gone through this), you are probably very close to a surgery date, if you haven't already, just call your surgeon's office and see what they might have to tell you. I wish you all the best and looking forward to hearing all about your journey as it unfolds. Take care, Laureen

I actually had a date before the surgery was approved. From what I understand most insurances need to know when the surgery will be performed to approve it. your surgeon might already have you penciled in pending the approval. It was less than a month between approval and surgery for me. Time flies when you are waiting to be a loser! Best of luck. Marla

Congratulations Gail! That is good news, and I can imagine how excited you are right now. My surgery was almost 9 months ago, and I remember how exciting getting approval was. I think my surgery date was already set before my approval? I am not 100% sure though. It all was so exciting and it's like a big blur now. I remember the date I asked my primary care for the referral, that was my birthday of last year, April 26'th. I went to the informational seminar for Dr. Trivedi in May sometime. I met with him the end of May, and my original surgery date was scheduled for July 27, but we were going on a family cruise the following week, so I postponed it until August 31. So, that all said, the ENTIRE process took 4 months and 1 week. Try and enjoy the process, sometimes it does seem like it's taking forever, but you will have the results for the rest of your life. Try and use this time to prepare for after surgery, things are going to be different. Congratulations and if I could give you one piece of advice, find a support group and start going now. It makes all the difference in the world. Michelle

Congrats Gail! Believe or not the next step comes pretty quick. I was approved May 9th and my surgery was scheduled for June 4 th the same day (only because May was booked!) When you're waiting time flies so fast it's unbelievable, but the excitement is almost like being on cloud nine. I wish you the best! Tonya
