Hi Everyone, I had adjustable lap band surgery on May 10 at Hackensack Hospital. Dr. Iannace was my surgeon. I went in on the 10 and went home the next day the 11. Today is May 12 and I feel really good. I have some discomfort, I am taking pain killers but not the full dose. This is the best present I could have given myself. Good luck to all on there weight loss journey. Debbie

Congratulations on your surgery. Today I went to the seminar and have an appointment set for June 22. I'm still undecided on whether having the lap band or the by pass.

Good luck with your appointment. I wasnt sure which surgery to have. I picked adjustable lap band for a number of reasons. 1) I am a big baby. Lap band was the least invasive of the surgerys, so less hospital time and less pain... 2) I did'nt want to take a lot of time off from work. With lap band I will only be out 3 work days. Your surgeon will help you decide what the best thing for you. Good luck with what ever you decide. Today is day 4 and Iam driving so I feel good. Debbie

Hi Debbie, Congratulations! My cousin in NC had that done in September and she has done very well. I have a consult on May 25th to see which surgery I am going to go with, but I'm pretty sure I'll opt for the Bypass. Wishing you the best of all things on your journey to a healthier lifestyle. Debbie How come you had to stay overnight with Lap Band, I thought they sent you home the same day. I am having mine on the 21st. Glad to hear you are doing well. Ronnie

Hi Ronnie, It all depends on your doctors policy. My doctor requries an overnight stay. My friend had hers done in Westchester and her doctors policy is in and out same day. If you are not feeling well after the surgery just tell your doctor and they will let you stay overnight. To be honest, I was glad I stayed overnight. I was sore and uncomfortable and every 4 hours I asked for a pain shot. Good luck with your surgery. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Debbie

Debbie, CONGRATULATIONS on your surgery, I had my band put in at Hackensack on 3-22 and I'm down 30lbs now feeling great!! The recovery was quick and I'm thrilled I had it done. I promise you it gets better with each passing week, I don't feel like I have anything around my tummy and the restriction is an awesome feeling! Keep your water and protien high, and make sure to keep taking your vitamins no matter what!!! Good Luck on your journey! Maria

Hi Maria, Wow 30 lbs, that is awesome. I am drinking Carnation instant breakfast drink for my protien and chewable vitamins. I feel good, going to work tomorrow. Thanks for words of encouragement. It sounds like you are well on your way. Hoping you keep dropping those pounds. Good Luck. Debbie
