During my seminar, yesterday, someone asked about plastic surgery, and this is what the surgeon said. Unfortunately, medical insurances will not pay for plastic surgery because it's considered optional and has nothing related to the person's overall health. If someone has hanging skin, the only way insurance might consider paying for is if it's medically needed, as in your case, where there's a bad rash that doesn't go away unless the skin is removed. He said that most, if not all plastic surgeons, do not deal with insurances, precisely because insurances don't pay for the surgery, and it becomes an out of pocket expense for the patient. Go ahead and try it, though. There seems to be instances where the insurance will pay for plastic surgery. I'm sure there must be a loophole somewhere in the system.
