Happy May Anniversaries...
I'd like to wish all the May, WLS, post-ops a very HAPPY ANNIVERSARY I will celebrate 2 years on May 17, 2007. I hope that all of you are as grateful as I am in being given another chance at living, instead of just existing. I cannot now, or ever forget how thankful and blessed I am to have had an excellent, understanding, honest and compassionate surgeon like Dr. Alexander Abkin. He has given me a chance at a new and healthier lifestyle. Not to ever be overlooked as well, are the staff at Dr. Abkin's office. They are wonderful and very helpful, I could not have made this journey without them either.
I have lost a whole person and I feel like a new person. I have more weight to lose and I WILL do it! After the first year, weight loss slowed down a lot and I hit several plateaus. I can not exercise like I want to, or like I should. I have two damaged knees, bone on bone, but I do the little bit that I can..When I get the knee replacements and I can move better, I will be able to lose some more and to dance again. I am 63 yrs. old and I don't regret for one minute of one day having the RNY WLS. This was not the "Easy Way Out", but for me, it was the "Only Way Left", since nothing else worked. I feel so much healthier than I have in years.
Again, congratulations to all, for the celebration of "New Life." Keep up the good work and lets continue to enjoy our new found Health and Happiness.

Congratulations on your success. I, too, am celebrating my anniversary this Wednesday, May 9th. It will be one year since my surgery and I can tell that I feel a lot better than I did this time last year. I have lost about 92lbs so far. I had wanted to lose 100lbs by my one year anniversary but that will not be happening. I have been stalled at 170-172lbs for the past 6-8 weeks. It is very frustrating but I am pleased with the fact that I haven't started that upward spiral that I have done with other diets. I hope that the weight loss will kick in soon and I will reach my goal of 150lbs. I know I should exercise more but I work nights and have been doing extra shifts to help pay for things that are necessary in my life. I have plastic surgery scheduled for September, a breast lift and tummy tuck that fortunately my insurance company is covering. So I now need to kick it into gear and get that last 20 or so pounds off. I look back at the past year and realize that I have come a long way. I am actually wearing a size 12 in some things and truthfully I don't ever think I wore that size before!! That is a huge accomplishment for me.
