Hello all, How long after you eat the wrong thing does "Dumping Syndrome" usually start? I am having a difficult time trying to figure out what the wrong thing I have eaten is. I hope by narrowing doen the time frame it will be easier to figure out. Thanks Craig

hi craig i usually dump within 1/2 hour of eating something that doesnt agree, but i know almost right away when its going to happen. i can just feel when something doesnt hit the spot so to speak then within 1/2 hour i get the foamies, which is how RNY people "dump", i just spit up tons and tons of saliva. after that, im usually ok within another 15 minutes or so, but my pouch really hurts when that happens. different people have different experiences though with this. im just relating mine. i find a cup of warm decaf tea kinda helps me along when i start to feel better. good luck, jacki

then within 1/2 hour i get the foamies, which is how RNY people "dump", i just spit up tons and tons of saliva. ... from what I've read, this is not the case. It may be for you, but my reading has shown that this reaction is simply called the "foamies" and "dumping" can be much more all-inclusive - heart palpitations, sweating, diahrrea, vomiting, etc. Everyone is different, some people have foamies, some dump, some have both, some have none! It might depend how long you've been out (everyone is different). In the beginning it was within the first 15 minutes. Now, I've eaten the same stuff & in about a hour I start to feel it. Whatever it is that is making you dump - just stop. Amy 220/135/goal

When I dump, I know right away after I eat something that is not going to agree with me. It takes about an hour after I eat to dump, but the feeling during that hour is horrible. After I "foam", I feel better almost right away. Something warm like decaf tea usually gives me a soothing effect afterwards.

Craig There are two kinds of dumping syndrome early and late dumpiong. Early dumping begins during or right after a meal and the symptoms include nausea, vomiting, bloating, diarrhea rapid heart rate and shortness of breath. Late dumping happens 1-3 hours after eating and the symptoms include weakness sweating, and dizziness. I got this information from the following website www.ezinearticles.com/?Gastric-Bypass-Dumping-Syndrome: How-to-Avoid-it www.bariatric-surgery.info/dumping-syndrome.htm Hope this helps Lauretta

I'm 6 weeks out and have dumped three times, all by accident (gotta read those labels carefully!) First time it happened I was just out of the hospital and was eating what I thought was sugar free pudding (it wasn't!) and almost immediately I got a very full feeling but a nasty full feeling, nauseau and rapid heartbeat, I had to go to bed until it passed. The second and third time it happened, just got jittery and nauseous...Since we are on the subject... Has anyone ever dumped on sweet potatoes? Gosh, tonite I had a bit of chicken and two tablespoons of mashed sweet potatoes, just butter and cinnamon, a bit later, maybe 15/20 minutes I started getting very nauseous and jittery, ugh, it was terrible. Now..for the foamies...what the heck causes that? I get that every single day, on Tuesday alone, I vomited 7 times, nothing would stay down, not even water, I was almost afraid to drink or eat anything since I was afraid of popping something, goodness....but....what can be done about it, it usually happens if I eat anything that isn't yogurt, soup or cottage cheese, things of that consistency, sometimes with meat and sometimes not, and the pressure and pain in my chest and throat, goodness...ok...I hope everyone is doing well.
