hi there start with your primary care doctor -- documentation is key!! complain about how the skin rubbing up against other skin is causing rashes -- and document everything!! this will take a few months -- the primary care will have to prescribe a few different creams and medication first before they can deem it medically necessary -- that is the only way that insurance will cover it -- it MUST be medically necessary -- then when the creams don't work you will be required to see a specialist -- probably a plastic surgeon who can help you further -- don't give up -- keep complaining about how bad the rash is -- no matter where the rash is just make sure that you get the point across to the insurance company through documentation that the surgery is medically necessary!! good luck to you take care roberta

I have Empire BCBS and when my case manager called to tell me that I was approved for the RNY surgery, I did ask her about PS down the line. All she could tell me was that if it was considered medically necessary, insurance would/should cover it. So, my advice is to document, document, document! Go to your PCP or a dermatologist with every little rash or sore and make sure they write it all down (tell them WHY you need them to do so)! Good luck! Wendy
