Hi everyone. I had my bypass this past Tuesday, and I am dying of what I think is gas. I have walked miles, and I get some out, and then it builds right up again, so that I'm practically doubled over in pain. Sometimes my chest gets really tight, and currently I have a burning, ripping sensation in the very lower left hand side of my stomach fat. Any suggestions PLEASE? How long will this last? Also, not that I'm hungry, because I'm not, but I have a HUGE desire to eat something crunchy, like a pretzel. Should I have my husband pick me up ice pops? I've been living on hot tea, iced tea, water, jello, and chicken broth. Thanks so much!! Marcie

sugar free popcicles and sugar free fudgcicles are fine to crunch on -- don't have anything crunchy yet -- follow the diet that the dr or dietician gave you -- it is extremely imortant that you follow their directions to a T -- you have to let your stomach heal on the inside good luck roberta

Yes, it probablly is gas -- GAS X helps a bit -- you will feel so much better once you are able to fart! Ice pops are fine, so are sugar free fudgicles -- No carbs like pretzels...... Feel better - see you Monday Nannette

Hi Marcie, The gas will ease up with time. Also remember that you're only less than a week out of surgery so don't try to over do it. Welcome to the losing side. Carla
