Sharon~ It's a laxative that was available only by prescription, until just a few days ago. I don't know if lap banders suffer with constipation, but a few of us gastric bypassers find it a chronic condition. This is a good solution, when you really need it. I am going to give it a try. It was a chronic condition for me before gastric bypass too. It takes a few days to kick in. It's non stimulating and non addictive as per my gastro.

I just started having the constipation problem (lap RNY-2/22/07) and I think it's going to be a long term problem. The surgeon suggested milk of magnesia for a few days, how does that compare to the Miralax? Connie

I did try MOM myself, and had no luck. HOWEVER, you should always listen to your doctor, they know what is best for you.

Angela~ I purchased the Miralax the other day. I always thought it was pills/tablets. I didn't know it's powder. What do you mix it with? Is there any flavor? The bottle said to mix it with any liquid.... just wondering what works for you. For anyone interested, Target had it for $4.99, and it's a seven day supply of powder. You mix it with 4-8 ounces of liquid. Michelle Brennan
