I've been doing some research and the info varies. With surgery next Tuesday (yea!) i'm ready with chewable calcium, c and centrum multi - vitamin. What are you guys taking? I made sure the C and Calcium are sugar free. Chime in please...I want to keep my hair :afro Ok...I don't have an afro but how fun is that symbol?

Hi Sadie: I am currently taking: Natures Plus Love Bites - Children's chewable (2) Biotin B-50 complex Calcium Citrate B-12 (once a week) Omega 3 fish oil My labs have come back perfect. My Nut was so happy with my vitamin levels, she is recommending the Nature's Plus Love Bites to all of her patients. I get them at Vitamin Shoppe. Good Luck!!

Make certain that your calcium is CITRATE, not carbonate. You won't absorb calcium carbonate properly after surgery, due to the reduced acid. Frankly, I use Flintstones Chewables. They are nearly the same as the Centrum (the Flintstones are missing the manganese, molybdenum and vanadium), but are less expensive than the Centrum, and I have the Flintstones on Auto-Order from drugstore.com so I never have to worry about running to the store or running out (the Centrum are available through drugstore.com, but not on the Auto-Order program). For calcium, my nutritionist recommended UpCal-D from Global Health Products (http://www.globalhp.com/Global-Health-Products-UpCalD.htm). It's a flavorless, odorless powder that you can add to any beverage or food. Two packets a day meets your full calcium need, and they're totally portable. 120 packets (a 2 month supply) is just $18.00 plus shipping.

hi sadie it's the protein that will save your hair -- not the vitamins you should really be asking your surgical team what vitamins to take as each team is different on what they tell their patients to take i take: 1 prenatal vitamin in the AM and 1 in the PM 1 Prevacid in the AM and 1 in the PM 1 Ducolace in the AM and 1 in the PM 1 b-12 in the PM Husband takes: 2 childrens chewables in the AM and 2 in the PM 1 B-1 in the AM 1 B-12 in the PM 1 Ducolace in the AM and 1 in the PM Our surgeon recommends that he does not need the Prevacid anymore since he is 9 months out now i am supposed to take Iron -- but the constipation is too much for me so give your surgeon's office a call and see what they recommend Take Care Roberta

Thank you guys so much! I think I should get set up with a NUT which I hadn't planned on doing. Didn't realize I'd need one but I guess i do to check my levels etc. But I'll take your advice and make good use of it until then. Thanks again! Sadie

i forgot to list the calcium citrate -- 1500mg per day -- actually i take 1,000mg at night sometimes my brain freezes but you really should hook up with a NUT -- we paid $200 each for our NUT but we have him for the rest of our lives -- actually we have the use of the University of Penn NUT for the rest of our lives -- for that one time payment of $200 -- that includes email, phone, visits, whatever take care roberta

I Sadie: I highly recommend seeing a NUT regularly. It has helped me tremendously in my weightloss effort. I see mine about every 2 months or so. I find she keeps me on track. I am a picky eater, and she helps me suggestions for new things to try.
