I went to a therapist after I had surgery, actually before I had any issues to help the transition. Nothing worse than looking for a therapist when you are down and out. Spend time with friends. I go out and try clothes on...not buy, just try on. Work relieves my stress when home stresses me out. lol.

Hi Christine: With all that you have been through it is no wonder you are so stressed. Don't be hard on your self. Remember tomorrow is another day for a new start. Spend time with your friends. Someone suggested dancing which is an excellent way to burn off stress as well as calories. I am 9 months post op and have lost 150 lbs. and just this week I was so upset with myself and not coping. I have signed up for intensive group therapy that is especially designed for post-ops 9 months or more. Your body and mind has gone through alot during this period of time. Try to be good to yourself and try not to be so hard on yourself. Feel better. Jeanne

I agree with Angela - I started seeing a therapist a year before I decided to have wls - it was a tremendous help. I don't want to lecture you, but please do not smoke!! I started smoking again in January - My job was crazy, and stress got out of hand for me. On Feb. 7th, I was hospitalized with a perforated ulcer, and had to have emergency surgery. My surgeon freaked out on me when I told him that I had been smoking! He said that when he sees these ulcers, it is usually in smokers. Needless to say, I haven't smoked since. Please be careful!!
