Hello, I am semi new here I just wanted to share my story. 2/25/05 I had the lap band surgery. I lost close to 100lbs in one year. About 1-1/2 years into it I noticed that I could eat larger portions and did not have to chew as much as I used to. My doctor (Dr. Fares in Hamilton NJ....THE BEST) set me up for an endoscopy. It showed that my band eroded into my stomach. It was caused by several things; baby aspirin, vodka and a stress ulcer. On 2/19/07 I had the band removed and converted to a gastric bypass, a 6hr hour surgery. Two (2) days after the surgery while still in the hospital my pulse rate went to 143 and I had a 105 fever. My doctor was worried and took me right into surgery to find the problem. Turns out there was a lot of pressure in my stomach and intestines and it blew a hold in my stomach. They were able to find the problem and repair it. Five (5) days later I was home, feeling great!! I have lost 15 pounds since the surgery and I am feeling great. I started this whole thing back in 2005 at 340 pounds and I am proud to say I am now at 239! I still have a lot more to loose but I feel skinny already! I am still trying to deal with my addiction to food by seeing a therapist. I highly recommend doing this, I have many years of addiction to work out and therapy helps! That's my story, if anyone needs any help or has any questions on either surgery please ask me.
