Hi all, I am finally actually starting to overcome my fear, and am looking forward to surgery. (April 10th - Dr. Schmidt) My husband is freaking out about "stocking up" the house for my return, so I thought I'd ask all you seasoned WL grads...what do I need to have in my house when I come home? What protein shake brands to you recommend? I am going to order the Vista vitamins. Thanks so much!!! Marcie

hi there marcie slow down you will up and about before you know it -- don't really stock up on anything because chances are it will sit in your house and you will never eat it -- get some samples of protein shakes -- i didn't like the powder ones but i had a bunch of them -- as for the vitamins, ask your surgeon what vitamins you should be taking after surgery -- each surgeon is different -- get a 6 pack of sugar free jello and a 6 pack of sf pudding -- get some sugar free popcicles -- some dannon light & fit yogurt (it's the lowest in sugars) and maybe a can or 2 of broth -- that should do ya for now best of luck to you Roberta

Congrats! On your date Marcie! Centrum makes a good liquid vitamin took for my first week. Now I take 2 Flinstone chewables a day and 2 Viactiv Calcium Chewables, the little choclate ones. But Those you can't have for the first week, and depending on your surgeon the second also. I wasn't hungry at all my first week, but I mainly stuck to broth and sugar free jello. I overbought. I have so much stuff left from my first and second week. Good Luck

Hi Marcie -- congrats -- hope to see you at another meeting soon. Vista Vitamins is a good choice and I take the gel tabs. However, first you will need chewables before you an swallow the get caps. As for stocking up - don't go overboard. Have some sugar free ice pops, some sugar free jello, cottage cheese, Dannon Lite n Fit yogurt, and for something hot, I lived on lental soup with some shredded cheese on top the first couple of weeks. As for protein - that is definately a personal taste issue - so please order some "sample" packets of a variety of flavors you like from Vitalady.com (only $2 each) and see what you like before you plunk down $35 on something you may never use! Hugs, Nannette

Maria, I absolutely agree with Roberta. I am 8 months post op and still have stuff that I thought I couldn't live without or that I would never be able to buy again. The list that Roberta gave you is right on the mark. I had my surgery during the very hot spell that we had this past summer so I kept many boxes of sugar free ice pops. Before you know it you will be in the solid food catagory and re-introducing regular foods back into your diet. My best wishes to you. Jeanne
