8 days post op. and i'm new here, just saying hi!
Hi! I had lap band surgery a little more than a week ago, and so far so good. I had it done at NYU with Dr. Fielding and he was great.
Been doing my liquids this week and really can't wait unti next week to get to the pureed food stage, but I'm doing fine with the liquids. I had a lot of gas pain for the first 5 days, but it seems to be gone now. That was the worst part as far as that surgery goes.
I really had fun before the surgery making sure that I was heavy enough to qualify and then figured why not just keep enjoying eating until then, so the pre op diet was a bit of a rude awakening but I did it.
I am so excited that I have had this surgery, I feel like there is a light at the end of the tunnel...I can see from reading your posts that it's not going to be easy, but I am so happy that I have a tool to help me do the things that will help me get to where I want to be.
I did one of those weight loss tickers but I couldn't figure out how to post it in here, can anyone tell me?
Looking forward to sharing with all of you!
Hi Laure,
My name is Judy and I am waiting for the insurance co to give the ok for lap band. I am trying to figure out the vitiamins and which protien shakes to buy. I guess until I get the ok from the insurance co,I think this is not going to happen.
Can you help me, I'm trying to chat with people who have had the lap band.
Please e-mail me back at
[email protected]
instead of this site as I have trouble finding the same place twice.
Hopeing to hear from you.
Judy
I drank Slim fast for my pre op diet. I was allowed to have 5 a day if i needed it and my doctor provided me with juice plus fruit and vegetable supplement. Slimfast was the easiest and it's pretty decent and it's on sale at WalMart this week just in case you decide to pick it up.
It was difficult, you know, if i could have lost weight with slimfast and vegetables then I wouldn't need this surgery! But i managed to get through the two weeks.
I will tell you that I didn't get approval from the insurance company until 2 days before my scheduled surgery. It was nervewracking and I wasn't sure that it would actually happen either. So sit tight, it will be okay, the insurance companies are not in the business of easing our minds though it would be nice.
