1 week post op and have lots to say

I been doing great so far I lost 20 pounds since feb 19 my lap band date. I went yesterday to my doctor and I found out that I cant have the shakes no more because they are too gassey for me so ..My delema is what in the world do I eat? I am really suffering from low energy..I am suposed to exersize and I try but I find I cant walk more then 10 min or 20 max. Did any one ever feel this way? By the way I love Doctor Girstus... he is really great. I will try my butt off to shake this...but I just needed to vent thanks , can anyone tell me what kind of foods they ate with in there 3 week liquids boot camp..?? lol...laney...

Hi Laney: I highly recommend that you work with Susana Mendelson - the nutritionist associated with Dr. Gritsus' practice. She is awesome, and will definitely help you with what you should be eating. I had surgery over a year ago, but I continue to see Susana every 8 weeks or so. She has been a tremendous help to me. Just remember - you just had major surgery - if you can only walk 10 - 20 minutes right now - that is fine - just make sure you are doing it. You will get your strength back, and soon enough you'll be walking for 45 - 60 minutes!! Good luck and take care!!

Hey Elaine, congratulations on the 20 pound loss.. Can you imagine carrying around a 20 pound weight all day.....ouch......I remember when I was on liquids I ate alot of soup and I added no flavor UNJURY protein powder in it....did not even taste it, bt got the protein in....Can you drink the protein shakes that are already pre made in a can...I love the Atkins protein chocalite and vanilla...It is good to vent...This band can be a little frustrating....Take care and good luck

Hey Dave ..Thanks for the support..I love atkins but it give me gass.lol..I had some mashed potatoes and I also had yorgert ..I am doing well..My energy level is kinda slow but I will try to exersize more often. I am so bloated from over doing it tonight I had way too much and caught myself eating very fast..NO GOOOD! I feel so full and I am really mad at myself...I am going to get this other one with an egg base thats sugar free.Or this shake called isopur. I'll keep you posted thanks again ..I guess its all of what I make it...thanks

Every Surgeon is diff, I was only on clear liquids 1 week, the 2nd week was puree type food, week 3 -6 soft foods.

Hi Elaine, I don't know if you can eat solid food yet but if you can try some high protein bars. I like south beach but they make two kinds so get the high protein (10gms). They have them in most supermarkets. Also try some plain or sugar free yougurt. Tuna fish is good also. Think protein and Iron. I have anemia from not enough Iron so I know the weak feeling you're talking about. Also I hope your taking plenty of vitamins. Good luck.
