I'm back, 6 days post op
Hi Folks,
Here it is 6 am and I cannot sleep. I've been home since Sunday and must say everything went okay except for some scar tissue the surgeon had to get thru. My left side will take a little longer to heal. As of right now I am fairly comfortable, my pain meds don't really do that much for me (Tylenol with codeine) I couldn't get the liquid percocet. Dr. Brolin and his staff were wonderful as was Princeton Medical Center. From surgery I went directly to ICU (because of sleep apnea). It was a private room and I received a lot of care and attention from the staff. The next day I was transferred to their surgical floor, again, a private room overlooking Princeton U. with a seating area of 2 sofas, coffee table, etc. How did I get so lucky!!! Again, staff was marvelous. My goal was to leave the hospital on Saturday, however, at that time the pain was so intense it was agreed another day in the hospital would do more good for my condition. So, I stayed and left about 1:30 pm on Sunday. The ride home was a little uncomfortable but I finally got to bed and rested. I must say Sun, Mon, & Tuesday were pretty painful but today (Wed.) everything has stabilized and I am moving around a lot more. I will still take my meds but not as frequently. I want to thank all of you for your good wishes and the support you have shown. (Only thing is no one told me it was going to hurt!!!!)
Hugs to everyone
Connie

Hello Connie,
Happy you are on the mend.
I am writing you because I had gone to a seminar given by Dr. Brolin about two years ago. I need bypass surgery then but chickened out.
Now I've made up my mind that I must have it in order to enjoy a healthy longer life.
If you are up to it, would you mind sharing your surgery experience with Dr. Brolin?
I know he is the best in the area, but I am also strongly considering the Barix Clinic in PA. They specialize in only weight loss surgeries, so I am leaning that way.
It's a tough decision.
Back to you...where is the pain? In the incision area? How long did it take for your insurance approval? What insurance do you have?
Any information you can share with me would be greatly apprciated.
Thank you.
