thanks everyone for the posts. I am still not sure but I am checking into both. I did look into the RNY about 4 years ago and backed off. I am such a chicken about doing the surgery. I was wondering if anyone has had a problem with the band slipping or what other problems there are? I hear all kinds of things that can go wrong like the band breaking and damaging other organs? I was wondering if anyone has had a problem?I am going to a seminar this friday and hopefully get some of my questions answered there. One DR. also has a seminar on line about the surgery I haven't had time to look at it yet. I am sorry it took me so long to get back to all of you *****sponded earlier I have been so busy with kids and work. My daughter is taking a medical class in her high school and the teacher is an RN so she is also willing to discuss some things about the surgery. Sometimes nurses see things that doctors don't. Maybe she can give me some insight. My problem is I am an emotional eater. I eat mainly when stressed. my job is very stressful and my home life is stressful with teenagers, bills, home and you know all the stuff that come with it. I am a worrier. The first thing I go for is chocolate of course. I do drive a school bus and thats really stressful if I do one thing wrong I could kill 54 children. It is stressful but I love it and the children, and like most people I have bills and a house that recently seems to be falling apart little by little. So I think if I can control how much I eat and I know I have to eat the right foods that I will be able to do the band. What do you guys think? Bonnie

Hey Bonnie, from know til Friday try to think of all the questions you can ask and write them down before the consultation...I had the Lap Band done Sept 06 and I am down 53 pounds so far...I can pretty much eat anything, but at a smaller size and portion. I was also looking into the RNY at first, but I heard of all the complications that it can have during surgery....I am sure it is good for some people, but I just thought the Lap band was better fit for me.....Also make sure you get a surgeon that has had alot of expierence with the band. Good Luck....
