Good for you Elaine!! I love Dr. Gritsus - he and his staff are wonderful! If you haven't already, I encourage you to make an appointment with Susana Mendelson, the NUT associated with Dr. Gritsus' practice. I continue to see Susana every 2 months or so, to go over what I am eating, what I'm doing for exercise, etc. I am a very picky eater (don't like veggies, or anything new or different). Susana helps me with trying new things, and basically helps me keep me on track. She encourages me to eat new things, but keeps me in my "comfort" zone. I am 1 year out, and I will continue to meet with Susana every few months. She is wonderful!! Best of Luck to you!!

Hi! Elaine I was just done on feb. 12th. I'm at home dealing with a sore belly and gas pain. I also have more holes than the average bear, at least that is what my doctor says I have. It is always four holes for lapo. But I have six due to scar tissue. The gas and the swollen belly is the hardest part, getting comfortable is another issue. I do not feel hungry, but every 3 to 4 hours try and have ice pop, jello etc. The one problem I'm having is coffee in the am. I'm use to that, so if I don't have it I will get a migrane head. So I'm making a little coffee, with skim milk and having it each morn, to avoid the headache. I love the jello, and the ice pop's. I have even had some "egg drop soup" very little, but it went down fine, and it protein. I have also had a 1/2 can of carnation instant breakfast or 1/2 can of cold advantage choc/royale shake. Just the 1/2 makes me feel like I had a meal and the rest goes into the fridge for later. Also now there is at the food store a yellow box of carnation instant breakfast that says/ complete nutritional drink 2 times protein of an egg and 2 times calcium of yogurt,it is rich milk choc. Good to have. I will get some "tapioca" pudding for next week. You know the three packs. I think everyone is different. I wish you luck, and just have your comfort area set up. With catalogs, tv. Word finds. Fill-ins. And don't forget to walk. That gets the gas out. I also took to laxative the first day. My doc said to get senna-cot, but we got the cvs brand. I also already had dulcolax in the house so I took two of them, and had what I would call a bowel movement the next day. Which helps get the gas out. With pain med's you will get blocked up, so I just take one laxative a day so that will not happen. The doctor also gave me a script for neausa/sick feeling. That happen the first day, so I have only had to use that once. Good to have on hand. He said I have no restriction, no saline in the band. Just some swelling from surgery, that is why we do the liquid thing to keep you comfee. Take care and best of luck, bridget k. "nobetterwomen"

Well, all doc's are different but mine says all liquids the day before surgery, "clear" liquids. However, my system moves very slow so two days before that, I was doing liquids with one small meal each day. That would be fri. Sat. And sun all clear liquids. It is better to be empty when they go in. Now, the lap band after surgery diet is all liquids, "clear liquids" the first 8 days, than some thicker ones, and than mushies, like mashed potato's, and sweet potato's about the 3 or 4th week. I'm surprised you did not read that. What did you think I meant? Take care bridget k.

Hey Megan I will keep you posted on my progress and you do the same. We will get through this together. I so far have little pain then before. I am having gss pain in the sholder and I am feeling really full because each day I get hungry. I drained chunky soup today for the first time and had sugar free pudding too.I felt like it was a treat but I am learning to eat slowly and it is hard to do when your hungry. But lets keep our chin up and enjoy our weight loss together. I hope all is well with you. I also take tyleol nite time pm to sleep. I will wake up with no problem. Take care and thanks for writting.
