Hi Everyone. I'm new here. Does anyone know how long it takes Aetna to approve surgery? I'm on pins and needles because my surgery is scheduled for 2/28. thanks. Dorothy

Have you done their required 6 month multi-displicineary program? If not, they will probably bump you!

I did the 3mo multidisiplinary diet with 3 psych visits and followed by my pcp. All by Aetna rules. I just don't trust Aetna. I'm very apprehensive. I guess I need to be more positive Thanks.

I have Aetna PPO and had no problems with them. It also depends on who your insurance guru is at the dr's office and how hard they fight for you. I really had no problems. Did the 3 month diet, and all the testing/visits required by Aetna. Good luck and it will come to be for you.

What Aetna do you have HMO or PPO. I HAD AN HMO THEY GAVE ME A HARD TIME HAD TO DO A 6 MONTH SUPERVISED DIET BEFORE THEY WOULD APPROVE IT.

hi dorothy i have aetna -- i jumped thru the hoops before any paperwork was sent in -- and i only had to wait 2 weeks for an approval -- i was SHOCKED to say the least!!! but then i had to fight to get Prevacid twice a day -- they said they would only pay for once a day -- but they gave in with a little nudge on a personal note -- i don't think that surgeons should give a surgery date without an approval -- i think it puts more stress on the person that "THIS HAS TO GET DONE" and if there is a denial then it's more of a let down -- that's just a personal feeling good luck to you Roberta

I have Aetna Choice POS. I was told by my Drs. staff that with Aetna I would have to go through 6 months of a Dr. supervised diet with my PCP. After reviewing my information, diabetes, high blood pressure and high colesterol, they approved me in two weeks?

I have Aetna HMO. I did the 6 month supervised diet and then they approved me within a week. I did have diabetes, hypertension, sleep apnea, GERD, etc.
