I'm done and home!!!!!
I had my RNY on Tuesday, was up walking that evening and everything went very well. In fact my only real trouble was that I had trouble withdrawing from Paxil - which is something that I've struggled with for a couple of years - getting off that damn drug. So the headaches were bad, but they took great care of me, the surgeons and nurses were superb and my chihuahua is firmly planted in my lap again (actually he should be rented out to help with the migrating gas postop as he likes to put his little footsies on my belly.). I'm off insulin, metformin etc......blood sugars are good. I'm so glad I did this. For those of you coming up. Just hang on. Susan
Hi Jackie, I hadn't planned on cold-turkeying paxil at all as it's a notorious drug to withdraw from no matter what you try. It's just that after three days off of it because of surgery (I had talked with the metabolic endocrine doc who is going to manage me post-op about doing a tapered/replacement dose with a more appropriate SSRI) I was through the worst of the early symptoms and thought I could rattle my way through the dizziness etc. I'm pretty sure I will continue on an SSRI for a while at least as this isn't exactly an ideal time to stop, but I want to be on a different drug. Hope everybody is staying warm - it's cold here in NJ! Susan
