I took this when it was prescription. It has some weird side effects and I will leave it at that. As it turns out last night we talked about this at my support group. Our leader said that it could really have a place to help WLS patients. Since we eat so much protien (some higher in fat) it could be used to cut the fat. The one side effect is that you can go to the bathroom by accident, if you know what I mean. Anyway he said you could counter balance that with some fiber. Personally I would wait for any measures such as this if I was near goal and needed some extra help.

This new OTC drug is a less strong version of Meridia (or was it Xenical-I have taken all of them!), which gave me awful diarrhea. Awful. It's supposed to only give you the "runs" if you eat foods that are higher than 20% in fat, but it gave me problems all the time. I won't try it again, not right now anyway. I guess I should never say never. I wish they would come back with phen-fen, for me, that was a miracle drug combo! I loved it. I had tons of energy! It affects everyone differently, I would encourage anyone to try it, it did help with weight loss in the end. Michelle Brennan

hi michelle how's it going?? i also took Phen/Fen and found it to be the miracle i was looking for!!! i was on it for 6 weeks when they yanked it off the market -- i was bummed to say the least -- it was the only medication that worked for weight loss for me -- meridia and xenical came after phen/fen but by then i had lost my health insurance and went back to buying the crap from the drug stores and retail stores -- ohhhh the money i would spend on 'quick fixes' haha btw -- i never had any problems with phen/fen either -- i went for the testing when they took it off the shelves and was tested again right before my RNY surgery shhhhh but it kinda reminded me of the speed back in the late 70's take care roberta

I took Xenical a few years ago hoping it would cure my weight problems. It didn't. It did nothing to curb my appetite. And no matter how good I was, if I ate something wrong, the results were horrifying!!! YUCK! YUCK! And double yuck! I don't know of anyone who this drug worked for at all. Sorry.
