I have no energy and have shortness of breath when walking a block or doing simple things, I DO HAVE 190 pds to lose and I was just wondering if this is "normal" because of my weight. Has anyone else experienced this or is this not normal, does it get better after? I feel like an invalid. Thanks. I feel like such a downer, I want to feel healthy again.Jade

I just read your post, your profile does not give much information and Im guessing that you have not had surgery yet and the shortness of breath your having is due to the extra weight. Please I urge you to take an aspirin and some water and try some simple stretching and deep breathing slowly and do not get yourself excited, but advise a family member or friend of how your feeling and if you are very uncomfortable, please call your doctor or call your local hospital emergency room and ask for some advise.

I have had ekgs and nothing abnormal also my blood pressure is fine. I was just asking if anyone had this due to being heavy and did it get better? I also had my blood tests a month ago and everything was fine. Im guessing you dont think it is normal but I feel I am so out of shape could weight cause this?

Absolutely! You said in your prev post that you have 190 lbs to lose----that's like carrying an extra person with you all day and night. I was 100 lbs overweight (and all my tests were fine too -no high blood pressure--nothing) but being out of breath made me decide to have my stomach banded. Now I feel great. I have only lost 25 lbs so far but even that has made a difference. I am happy just to be able to bend down and tie my shoes without looking like a contortionist! You asked if its normal...NO normalweight people don't feel that way without some underlying cause. Overweight people...sadly --yes. My guess is that you are thinking about surgery since you don't have a surgeon listed under your name. I had my stomach banded...I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I am not out of breath, I can almost run the stairs without falling over gasping for breath (yay). I even dropped a whole shoe size and the kicker is I didn't even think my feet were fat..lol. And I have to add that because your tests are all good, it doesn't mean you will stay that way. Another reason for me to get banded, I wanted to nip any health risks in the bud, or at least, put off getting them early. (something to think about) If this sounded preachy, I apologize, I am just trying to be informative. Best wishes to you!

Hi Jade, Dr Mehta is supposed to be a really good doc. Don't worry about a thing...think about the great things that will come of this. You'll make it through surgery just fine! Just think, a whole new you!!! Fit and Forty...yeah!! Do you have a surgery date yet? Best wishes! Barb

Jade, Absolutely. I work in Center City Phillie. I have to walk 2 blocks from my car to the bldg. I work in. Before the surgery, that walk was torture. I had to stop a minumum of 3 times to rest. I am now down 148 lbs. (I still have another 100 to go) but I can walk that with no problem and not be out of breath at all. You will see everything will fall into place. Jeanne
