Hi Everyone;I haven't posted for a long time because I am so depressed at being a potential"lap-band failure".Had my band placed last April and lost 30 pounds total but have gained a few back over the holidays. My problem has been with my "fills". It seems I am acutely sensitive to restriction and every time I have a fill I eat mushy foods for 2 days and then at some point when I try to eat "normal"food I start vomiting. I chew well and try to eat slow but once the vomiting starts it is hard to stop and the chest discomfort is almost unbearable. I have had 4 fills and 4"unfills'.When I get "unfilled" I begin to gain weight back. It seems to me that my body is used to much less food and as soon as I am able to eat a bit more I gain weight. My Doctor says he has a handful of patients who are very sensitive to Restriction. I feel like I failed. I am Diabetic and was on Insulin and have come off it because of the 30 pound weight loss and now if I begin to gain again I am afraid I will have to go back to that. I am very discouraged and am even thinking I had the wrong surgery. I am 5'5' and started at 220 pounds, got down to 190 and sat there and now have gained a few more pounds.I am wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and if so has anyone gone from the Lap-Band to Bypass surgery.I am tempted to have the Band removed-I have not vomited so much in my whole life as I have since April. I am a nurse and work in a hospital where many people are having weight-loss procedures and they all look great and I feel like they liook at me and wonder what happened. Any suggestions would be so appreciated. Thanks. Judy

I am sorry that you have had so many problems. there is a support group on toms river at community medical center every Thursday at 7:00 PM ot 9:00 PM. It is called Baritric Angels the meeting is only for those that have had surgery or in the process of being scheduled for surgery. Please come. I had gastric by-pass 5 years ago. I understand the issue of being able to gain weight. As you already know the surgery is only a tool to weight loss. The bigger problem for most of us is the emotional issues. I hope this New Year will be a better year for you and your issues, as this life changing process can only be addresses day by day. if you would like to contact me my e-mail address is laura55 at comcast.net but I do not look at it every day but I will answer. best wishes Laura G

Judy, Hi, I too work in the medical field, I am a X-ray Tech, and I do the "fills" under flouro with the doctor. I am scheduled for my Band on Monday. As far as your band goes, do you know how many CC's your band holds? How many CC's were put into your band at each filling? That may give you some answers. If you have a 10 CC band and the doc is fill you to 9CC then that would explain why you can't eat anything. If you want you can e-mail me personally at [email protected] and I can maybe explain it more in better detail. Also, don't judge your success on anyone else. Set personal goals and don't worry about anyone else. Take care. Carroll
