FYI-New Plastic Surgery CPT Codes (Cross-post)

I called Oxford to inquire about the process regarding plastic surgery, to be told there are new CPT codes, and they would not tell me. Anyhow. for panniculectomy, the code 15831 has been replaced with 2 codes 15830 and 15847. Angela

Hi Ang! I haven't seen you in so long. Jennifer here from Toms River SG. I have been seriously thinking about plastic surgery myself, and wondering if you can share any other research/thoughts/ideas that you have? I would like to get my tummy, arms and boobages done (haha). Also, is this change to the CPT codes only for Oxford, or all ins. companies? I assume all, but let me know. And do you know if this is true...I was told that if you lose more than 100 lbs that it is not longer plastic surgery but reconstructive surgery, and covered by insurance. I am down 175 lbs, so hoping that is true. Are you coming to the group meeting tonight?
