Is anyone under 5 feet tall like me?

I am asking because 100 pounds over my ideal weight or my ideal BMI is under 200 pounds and people look at me sideways when I tell them I want lap band surgery and how much I weigh or how much my BMI is. They say they would give anything to be my weight... but it doesn't look very cute on someone who is 4'10". I see everyone's starting weights here and feel a bit embarrassed to say my starting weight is close to some people's goal weight. I think the weight range for my height is around 80 to 100 pounds?? :-o I don't think I weighed that little since I was a kid. Don't you wonder where they get these numbers?

hi mary if i read this right -- do you want to be 80 - 100 lbs??? everyone has the surgery for their own reasons -- i want my legs to stop hurting -- i want to be able to stand up from a sitting position on the floor -- and yes, i want to wear jeans again instead of stretchy pants -- and i'm tired of the YO-YO dieting that i have done for over 20 years -- don't worry about what other people think -- if you choose to have surgery then it is your decision and your decision only -- you are the one who will have to live with the choice -- not anyone else good luck roberta

There are a couple of things to consider when having this surgery. What is you BMI and are you at least 100 lbs above your normal weight range? Do you have any co-morbities such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, etc.? I would suggest speaking with a WLS surgeon or your PCP to see if you are a candidate for this. Best of luck, Carla

Are you kidding me? LOL I would give my right arm to be 130 right now! I just could never see myself at even the highest ideal weight. I think I would look anorexic. I look at that and think... yeah right.
