I have pneumonia!
Ok - so I'm 2 1/2 months out from surgery; 2 weeks ago, came down with strep throat/upper respiratory thing; got better in time for Christmas; then Christmas Eve, came down with this cough, and started running a fever this week; doctor brought me back in today, and determined I have pneumonia now! I have never had this in my life! Could it be something to do with going under anestesia? are my lungs weaker now? This is just strange; I've never ever been sick like this prior to surgery; maybe it's just a coincidence, I don't know.
I am pre-op and i got the same thing you have about 3 weeks ago. I cant actually say its something you may have affected by the surgery... but there is a virus going around that starts as a cold, then the flu.. and then pneumonia..... It took me about two weeks to get rid of it.... my doc put me on zithromax.. 3 day antiobiotic and told me to take dyslem.... a cough suppressant.... really helps with the coughing and lets ya get some sleep...... get well soon..... Christine....
I am sooo sorry. I have found that I get sicker easier now. I usually do not get sick and since surgery I have had a cold and a stomach virus and on. I have not asked if surgery had anything to do with it but I think so. I think too that my body is sooo busy losing and fighting that battle that it can not do much more. but that is just my opinion.
I hope you feel better soon, Take it easy and take care,
Melissa
Hi! Michelle
I'm sorry you are not well. I don't know if I told you that my husband
was told he had pneumonia the Monday before christmas. I was on an
anti-b three weeks before him, and my upper rest. Went into my ears,
and than into a cough. So when they gave him meds, they gave some to
me as well, because I live with him. They did tell him, in order to get
pneumonia, you had to be in contact with someone who had it.
I'm wishing you well, my friend.
