Asking for prayers
Hi fellow New Jersey people,
I am almost ready to go for RNY surgery on Jan 15. I just had an appt today with the cardiologist for cardiac clearance. the EKG, came out fine, my heart "sounds" good, and I just have to have a stress test on Jan 5th and if that goes well, I will be cleared for surgery and ready to roll.
I just got a little scared today when the cardiologist said to me that because of my medical history/co morbidities that I have right now, they have to be very careful with me. That just was a very tender and serious moment.
I do have type 2 diabetes with neuropathy (nerve pain), high blood pressure, high cholestrol and I have been a smoker for 35 years. Even though I quit exactly a month ago, I am still at a high risk for heart disease, or a stroke or worse. My own mother suffered with cardio-vascular disease for many years, and just passed away from it only last October at the age of only 70...I have alot of risk factors.
Hearing this kind, gentle, and intelligent professional Heart Doctor, speak to me in such a manner, made me feel so vulnerable. Wow........and I thought I was so strong and courageous. Well strong and courageous is not enough. I now more than ever want to get healthy. I mean really healthy and strong, and to live my life to the fullest. I sense in my heart of hearts I will do fine on the stress test. I am just so grateful, I have a chance to reverse all these diseases I have aquired thru becoming morbidly obese,...now God has given me a wonderful team of doctors to help me out of the mess I find myself in.
thanks for listening. I just needed to get this off my chest. And if you have time, please say a prayer for me. It would mean the world to me. You could go to my profile and add a word to my surgery page, that would be lovely of you.
May your new year be the best year of your life.
God bless you all and your loved ones, with peace, joy, good health, and most of all Love

It sounds like you have a great team behind you, and that you have a great attitude about getting healthy and correcting the things the weight has brought with it. That was my attitude about the surgery also, I was so "grateful and thankful" to have the chance to have my life back. Keep thanking God everyday for this blessing that He has allowed you to have. A thankful and grateful attitude can do nothing but good for your mind and your body!
Please know that you will be in my prayers also, and I hope to see you at Fridays Toms River group.
Have a blessed New Year!
