Trouble swallowing clearer, ligher liquids

I am about 2 weeks post surgery for lap band and am finding lighter, clearing liquids harder to swallow than thicker ones (cream soup for example). Has anyone heard of this? I feel like clear liquids just don't go down and sort of gurgle with lots of air down really slowly. Any advice or comments would help.

im no expert on lapband, i had the rny procedure. just a thought though, maybe you are drinking your clear liquids too quickly. this was a problem for me in the beginning. i solved it by taking very small sips. that helped. good luck, happy holiday, jacki

Hi... I am also a lapbander.....I have to agree...sounds like its going down the "drain" too fast...sip slowly. Thick ones coat your throat, and doesn't go down the hole right away. Clear broth---right straight down. This will also happen if you drink when you eat (when you get to that stage) so be careful. Best Wishes! Barb

I had rny too, but it sounds like it's going down too fast. Don't use a straw. I was told by my doctor to never use a straw again, you swallow too much air. Good luck. Feel better. Michelle Brennan
