Hmmm I still can't believe it was the nurse to tell you that. Most doc's require that you have at least a bmi of 40...but for you to not have even saw the doctor....I can't even believe it! I am going to see him on Wednesday for a shot of "put that fork down"....I will hint around and ask his receptionist. (don't want to **** the doc off---that needle is big)...lol. Take care, Barb

I had my open RNY done with Dr. Rafael Capella of Ramsey NJ. My BMI was not 40, but I have Polycystic Ovaries, Hypothyroidism, and Sleep Apnea, Heart Burn. Dr. Capella holds a monthly orientation that you must attend before you can schedule an appt. It is usually the second Tuesday of the month. Call the office to confirm if they are having one in January. It may be worth it for you to take the ride. It all depends on the surgeon on weather they are willing to operate on you with a BMI of less then 40, obviously my surgeon did. He is in network also. From there is all depends on the insurance co if they choose to approve it. Dr. Rafael Capella 545 Island Rd Ransey NJ 201-818-9199
