Lifting?

Hi everyone - my name is Phil Feiner and i just got my approval number about 1/2 hour ago! I am pretty excired -I spent most of the day yesterday convincing myself that if I was not approved, it was not meant to be. This is true, AND I am thrilled and anxious now that it is official. I go for my pre admission testing this evening and my RNY on Monday afternoon. I read people talking about lifting, and I can appreciate that I cannot do any heavy lifting for a few weeks post op. What about light lifting? I take my dogs to work with me and the old girl needs me to give her a boost. They are Labrador Retrievers and weigh about 80 pounds. Will I need to find someone to help withthe boost, or is that kind of lifting ok? Thanks loads - Phil

Philip, You may want to check with your Dr to be sure....but I'm guessing you'll be told to lay off the lifting over a certain weight (my limit was 10 lbs, I think!) for a specified amount of time. If you are able to get assistance from someone-it'd probably be a good idea, anyway...don't want any hernias to come between you and your dogs. On a more personal note...where do you work that you can bring dogs? ...Just curious Sandi

i would imagine your doc wont want you to be lifting that much for awhile. i think ten pounds was also what my doc had said. good luck with your surgery , soon you will be on the losing side. and yes, where do u work that you can bring the doggie. sounds nice to me. hugs, jacki
