Hi, my name is raizel. Try broth, boulliion, sugar free jello, tea. I like green tea. I had gastric bypass but it's the same when you leave the hospital. You won't be in protien then. Isopure is a good protien shake(gnc store) get chewable multi vitamin w/minerals. Carnation breakfast shake(sugar free one is ok.

Hi, Sharon. Is there any way to make a call to your surgeon and/or nutritionist (if the program your surgeon does provides one)? I am not very "lap band" experienced so I'm not sure what is suggested, allowed, etc. I think, also, that there may be a lap band board around here somewhere...perhaps that might also be a place to look for suggestions? Good luck. Sandi

Hi Sharon, 8 weeks out from banding here! First, don't go crazy getting a lot of stuff.....I am staring at 5 boxes of ice pops that I never froze because I didn't need them...lol. Protein.....and ALL WLS patients need protein right away......for clear protein....try Isopure --it comes in bottles...several flavors. But only drink half a bottle at a time, they are 40 grams and you can only absorb 20 grams at a time, the rest is peed out. So I drank half in the morning and half in the evening. Then later you can go on to shakes. You must get your protein in .....its imperative if you want to keep your hair. Same thing with your vitamins....either chewable or liquid...centrum makes a decent tasting liquid vitamin. (I don't recommend Flintstones---too much sugar) I tried fat free chicken broth...omg.....nasty....so I switched to the broth of wonton soup. At this point......you just want to make sure that you are getting enough intake of liquid....so don't fret about the minimal fat in wonton broth. Jello (sugar free) will be your friend also. (lol) My question is though, didn't your doc tell you to see a dietician? Just don't go crazy....you probably won't use too much in the first few days...just remember to keep drinking. Stay away from Cream of Wheat. Take your vitamins. don't bother with Gas-X...the gas you will have is not in your stomach...its outside so its not the kind you can "pass" ....walk...walk....and walk. When is your surgery? Best Wishes to ya! Welcome to Bandster Land!!!!

protein is also needed for healing you should have some SF puddings, SF jello, yogurts, broth, any SF drink -- but i would get ahold of a dietician that my surgeons office recommends when i lost my hair to due another medical treatment i thought i would be devastated at the hair on my head -- what bothers me more is my fingernails!! i have very weak and bendable fingernails -- my head i can cover with a hat -- my nails just keep bending -- so they are cut very very short btw -- i still have some hair on my head -- and it still has it's length -- but the size of the pony went from very thick to the size of a nickle in diameter good luck roberta
