Moving to Aetna-NJ: Failed RNY - trying to get approval for lap band
My BMI is just a hair under 40 still.
My RNY was just 2 years ago. I was apprx 285 and a size 24/26.
I'm now 235 and a size 16/18. However, I had gone down to around 210..that was my lowest weight, but then bounced up.
Does anyone have experience, and has anyone dealt with Aetna on this?
I will be in a regular plan, not an HMO.
I had to wait almost 8 months for my 1st approval...I can't do that again. :'(
I'm 41 and I want to keep losing until I feel good.
I never felt that overwhelming feeling of fullness. I've hardly ever vomited.
I never developed a distaste for certain foods. And I never experienced the high energy that the other 4 female relatives in my family experienced.
I don't know why my experience has been so different.
Hoping to hear from others who have been down this road.
Thanks.
Hi, Sorry to hear about the RNY. My sis went thru the same thing....our doc says if you don't lose the weight within the first year, you won't be able to lose it. She lost a lot and gained a lot. She too was pondering over the lapband. Will your doc even do it? Have you called your insurance to see if they will cover it??
Make sure if they approve it you see a dietician to help you out. It's so critical to have help along the way.
Best wishes to you, keep us posted!
