Wendy, I am sorry that it is so expensive....But it is absolutely neccessary and the people who tell you its not are not thinking clearly. Just about any skilled surgeon can do this procedure. But the tool of the surgery is only the first step. If you have had any kind of WLS, RNY DS or any band, you need to learn to eat correctly. WLS brings about the problems of vitamin and other nutrient deficiencies. For the most part only dietitians are qualified to help you with this. Many of the surgical programs will let you pay for this thru payments, and some insurance programs will pay part of this...But it is truly an investment in your good health. I am assuming you are seeking WLS in order to get better health..Don't go half way. Any surgeon who is worth his or her weight in salt requires some sort of nutrition class. I actually was mandated to go to 12 nutrition classes post op and a three hour preop seminar; it was part of a comphrensive program called New Beginnings...It was pricey, about 1800...But it was worth every penny. I am three years out, 280 lbs lighter. I have a slight anemia, but no other deficiencies,,,, Most of the others who stayed committed to New Beginnings can say the same, that they lost good amounts of weight, and that they are healthy. Take good care, Kelly

Is that at freehold medical center becuase that is what his office told be and that was the cost that was crazy . I had picked a surgeon but wanted to try and find one closer to me. Well I did't go with that one. I understand there point but not 700.00. So it's a drive to my surgeon but he is worth the drive. And my sx went great.
