VITAMINS
Hi everyone as you might have read I bought the wrong vitamins without realizing it(centrum for 50+) and I was just wondering what anyone else has bought that is chewable. Now I know the doctor said flinstones is ok but....Not to question a doctor but is it really...I wouldnt think it being a kid vitamin that it would(eventhough im tempted cause I know they taste really really good...Lol) so someone please get back to me soon cause my surgery is this Wednesday and im going out tomorrow night to exchange my vitamins. Thank you.
my doctor told me to take two chewable flintstone vitamins and i know others take that as well.
i cant stand to chew stuff like that so after a few attempts, i just waited two weeks till doc said i could swallow small pills, and then i bought the old one a day, little red pill kind. they seem to work for me. my four month bloodwork came back ok.
most docs recommend the chewable kind for the beginning.
check on some of the websites you will find here, there are tons of acceptable vitamins out there.
good luck with your surgery, jacki
Flintstones and Centrum are not good vitamins. They do not contain enough of what we need. I researched vitamins intensively and decided on the Tropical Oasis that Susan Maria Leech recommended. The liquid absorbs the best and the vitamins taste like OJ! They are quite yummy! I ordered them from Vitacost.com for $17 a bottle. They seem to contain everything we need. I never knew that there was such a difference in vitamins until I started doing research! I don't mind spending more on good quality vitamins as this is my health we are talking about!
I don't take, and have never taken, anything chewable and it's never been an issue, or a problem. Not sure why some doctor's are suggesting *only* chewable at first .
Also, I get all my vitamin needs at Costco and/or Walmart .. generic no-name brands. In checking the labels, I find that they contain the same amounts of everything that is also found in more expensive, name brands.
All my blood lab results to-date have been perfect.
Good luck!

Just my 2 cents...... I'm kind of a vitamin "nut" and have been all my life. I also don't like paying 'an arm and a leg'! Since brands are mentioned I'll tell you what I did, and what I'm doing now. Prior to surgery I got liquid multi's and calcium supplement from Puritans Pride. Basically, I didn't want to chew anything that might remind me of candy or sweets. They also have sales where you can buy 1 and get one free. After that, I got their 'green source' and that has most everything in it. I'm now trying 'lifepak nano' by "Pharmanex." It's more expensive, but it's research shows that the smaller molecular components cross the 'blood-brain' barrier more effectively so more positive elements are absorbed. Since this is my own test, I let you know in a month how they perform....... if someone is interested!!!
