I'm back!! / need psych in NNJ
Hello all!! After a long absence I am back and making serious strides towards getting my surgery done.
I need to have a psych consult done and I was looking for suggestions for Dr.s in the Northern NJ area that might possibly be covered by my insurance and of course would have experience with WLS patients. I hope to have my sugery with Dr. Bertha and I know they have a psych down the hall on the same floor but I was trying to avoid paying the fee upfront that they charge.
Any and all suggestions welcome
Hi! Kathleen
my name is bridget. I just got on this site this afternoon.
Now in north jersey you can open you phone book or call
umdnj they have a psych. You can call the hosp.
And ask them to refer you. I'm sure it will only be one visit.
Let me know how you make out. You did say you are having
lap band did you not?
Thanks
bridge
Kathleen,
I do not know of a good psych other than the one down the hall from him. Both my husband and myself used him and we both had Dr Bertha. Just make sure with Carmen in his office that it is one that they accept. Plus take into account that some other ones might not have worked with wls and might not understand the need for the surgery the way the that one does. He was very good and it is a very short visit. I do know that while they do not accept insurance you can still file with your insurance company. My suggestion is to call your insurance comany and get a list from them or look online with them maybe to try and find one. I know the $ is hard to swollow. We saved for my husbands and then we turned aorund and saved for mine. Our insurance covered the surgery 100% thought so we looked at it as a small price to pay. I am not sure if this is any help to you but know that Bertha is awesome and he has a spectacular office. If you will have your surgery at Morristown Memorial they are great as well. I just had my 1 week post op yesterday and I am down 24lbs! What he does works!!! I can not stress that enough. My hubby is 5 months post op and he is down 84lbs. Best of luck to you and if you have any other questions I owuld be very happy to try and helpo as much as I can!
Best of luck,
Melissa
I spoke to Dr Bertha, (His office is accross the street from mine.) but he had to refer me to Dr Pomp ,his profesor for wls surgery as I required special skills and a DS, due to prior surgery, and its not offered in NJ, so off i went to Cornel at ny presbyterian. and the psych they sent me to was dr roberson, p

cost 175, saw him in white plains, next to the exit, real easy, took about a half hour and the report was at doctors pomps office in a half hour waitting for me at the consult.
By the if you havent read about the DS, I suggest you check it out, to be well informed about all three choices of wls, I had no choice. but now I would only have the DS.
